Sign up to volunteer.
If interested, just stop by the library any time and speak to Karolyn or Ellen. We definitely need volunteers to cover the desk during summer vacation months.
10 Reasons to Volunteer at the Newtown Library:
Feel good about yourself as you help your community.
Smile as you make new acquaintances and friends.
Improve your job resume.
Gain interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Participate in fundraising events (esp. if you like to bake or exercise).
Let someone recommend to you the book you’ve just been hoping to find.
Gain a new altruistic insight into the meaning of life.
Give yourself a destination to walk to.
Save trees and the environment as you support borrowing instead of buying.
Know that you are connected to the community and a tradition that has lasted almost 250 years.

Approximately 50 volunteers make sure that the library is open over 170 hours per month. Volunteers are coordinated by Ellen Barish. If you are interested in helping with this important work, please stop by the library and leave a message for the coordinator.
